• Stacey L. Strilchuk Appointed to the Council of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta

    On October 3, 2018, the Alberta Lieutenant Governor in Council, as recommended by the Honourable Sarah Hoffman, Deputy Premier of Alberta and Minister of Health, appointed Stacey L. Strilchuk as a Public Member to the Council of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).  

    The CPSA Vision and Mission is to respectively ensure the highest quality medical care for Albertans through regulatory excellence and to protect the public and ensure trust by guiding the medical profession. 

    It is the goal of the CSPA to: Guide and support physicians in providing competent, compassionate and ethical care to patients; Act as a trusted voice in influencing public policy for an effective, integrated health system; Foster quality health care through collaboration and cooperation with other key stakeholders; and be seen as a recognized leader and innovator among self-regulated professions.  

    The Council of the CPSA sets direction and policy for the College, while daily operations are managed by the College Registrar and leadership team.  

    College Council includes physician members elected by their medical colleagues and public members appointed by Alberta’s Lieutenant Governor in Council. Alberta’s medical school deans also hold a Council seat, and medical learners are represented as observers. 

    Council meets four times per year. Members of the profession and public are invited to attend the open agenda.

    “It is of course, an absolute privilege to serve in this capacity and I would like to sincerely thank the Minister for her vote of confidence in appointing me to the Council of the CPSA.  I look forward to the opportunity and commit to doing my best to represent the public voice,” said Strilchuk.     

    Strilchuk’s appointment comes into effect January 1, 2019 and expires on December 21, 2021.  She remains in her currently role as Executive Director for the Camrose Primary Care Network.
