• Volunteer Training Weekend

    Every year the Hospice Society of Camrose & District offers a training program that is open to the public. You are welcome to participate, whether you choose to become a volunteer or not; first seats are reserved for those intending to complete volunteer registration.

    The purpose of this training is to prepare you for service as a care volunteer:
    â–ª to individuals in their home with a chronic disease
    â–ª to those in long-term-care or hospitals who have a palliative diagnosis 
    â–ª to those who are actively dying 
    â–ª to those who are grieving.

    Those choosing to become registered volunteers will be interviewed, asked to supply references, and to provide a criminal record check. Training occurs via online modules, several evening classes through the year, and one full weekend.

    â–ª Companioning the Bereaved
    â–ª Physical Care of the Dying and Comfort Care
    â–ª Grief & Bereavement
    â–ª Self Care: Grace and Compassion for Self and Others
    â–ª Policies and Ethics
    â–ª Nav-CARE (Navigation, Connecting, Accessing, Resourcing, Engaging)
